Manufacturing that connects Mashiko's past, present, and future
Mashiko Town, located in the southern part of Tochigi Prefecture, is a town of traditional crafts with a history of about 170 years as the production center of Mashiko ware.
This area, where nameless craftsmen continued to handcraft everyday tools, eventually became the center of the Mingei movement and became known nationwide as the "village of Mingei."
In modern Mashiko, unique Mashiko ware continues to be produced, incorporating a variety of expressions while preserving tradition.
At the pottery market in particular, many customers are captivated by the charm of pottery and have incorporated it into their daily lives.
On the other hand, the inherent cultural value of Mashiko ware and the techniques of its artisans are not yet fully conveyed.
We would like to look into this background, rediscover the good old Mashiko ware, and pass it on to future generations.
Juu KK, which operates Crafted in Mashiko, offers tableware that will be loved for generations, based on the concept of "products born in Mashiko, made by Mashiko artisans, and reflecting the culture of Mashiko."
